"the volunteer patch"

“the volunteer patch”

So I decided this summer with a prompt from my husband to do some things I have always wanted to do because my summer will be over before I know it and I will be back at work…

Well those of you who know me know that I have loved sunflowers since I can remember …hence my motto “bloom where you are planted”… I have always wanted to take a picture in a field of sunflowers… this will also give you a glimpse of how simple some of my things are that don’t take very much time just a little planning and self-care…

Anyho, due to other family committments my appointment to take this photo narrowed down to about 15 min (I am not surprised at this at all)

So we pull up and my daughter and I look at each other and think this is it??? I say well we will make the best of it and I will get close to the biggest sunflowers for the photo …stepping in all kinds of weeds and wondering if a tick my land on me I go for it…My daughter on the other hand starts telling me she hopes I didn’t pay a lot for this and she would pass on “the sunflower photo” … not me after all it was on “my bucket list”… so she takes my photo and I climb out because remember I have only 15 min after all.

Well what looks to be the owner drives up and in my mind she is coming to verify that we indeed paid for “sunflower photo shoot” so I rush to get my phone out with my confirmation email and she says, “that’s the old sunflower patch and those are “just volunteers” the “real sunflower patch” is out back…well (scroll to the second photo)

I think there is a lesson here… or maybe two…Perhaps that old adage that “things might not be what they seem” or “don’t judge a book by it’s cover”or “sometimes you have to make lemonade out of lemons”.. perhaps a little “bloom where you are planted”

Be well my friends
